Me Linh Logistics Joint Stock Company is the first enterprise in the province operating in the field of logistics such as freight forwarding, warehousing, collection of goods; customs agent, customs declaration, liquidation of import and export goods.
Not only is the province’s only customs clearance point at the time of establishment, MTO is also recognized by the Ministry of Finance as a customs clearance place outside Vinh Phuc border gate according to Decision No. 455/QD-BTC.
With a network of branches present in 4 major provinces and cities in the country including Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, the company is creating jobs for more than 100 employees, with an average income of 9 million VND. VND/person/month.
MTO General Director Nguyen Van Binh said: “In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, there are still many unpredictable developments, and difficulties are piling up more and more difficulties for transport and logistics enterprises. The company is currently facing many difficulties when input costs are high, while output revenue has decreased by about 30% compared to the time before the epidemic re-emerged.”
Since the outbreak of the disease again, the process of moving goods at some customs clearance points has encountered many difficulties, the transportation time has been prolonged, directly affecting the company’s supply chain.
In particular, at the Hai Phong customs clearance point, the City People’s Committee requires the trucks transporting goods belonging to the high-risk group (going from Nghe An province back to the southern provinces to Hai Phong) to stick a red logo. Vehicles in the risk group (from Thanh Hoa province to the northern provinces to Hai Phong) have yellow logos. The low-risk group is the vehicles that only operate in Hai Phong city, which will be stuck with the blue logo.
For drivers, most of the drivers from outside provinces must have negative test results for Covid-19 within 3 days from the time of testing. For those who have not been tested, the driver must make a medical declaration and do a quick test.
General Director of MTO Nguyen Van Binh added: “The requirement for drivers to come to Hai Phong to have a Covid-19 test certificate has affected the company’s goods transportation process, both making the transportation cost of the company worse. the company increased, while it took time to test, the working time of employees had to be longer. However, we still strictly comply with the regulations with more than 30 drivers of the unit being tested for Covid-19 to ensure smooth and safe transportation of goods.”
Not only affected at the customs clearance point, for the road transport process, some routes passing through the provinces and cities of Hai Phong and Hai Duong are not allowed to pass through due to social distancing to prevent and control the epidemic. During the Covid-19 pandemic, MTO’s freight vehicles had to move along other routes, increasing travel costs. From those difficulties, the company’s transportation costs increased by about 20% compared to before.
Besides, MTO’s customer partners are mainly large enterprises, of which, 90% are FDI enterprises. Despite facing complicated developments of the epidemic, foreign businesses still require to ensure the accuracy of delivery time so as not to disrupt their company’s supply chain. Efforts to “surmount the storm” of the epidemic, realize “dual goals”
Facing the reality of transportation activities facing many difficulties, in order to both perform well the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic and ensure economic stability, MTO has been implementing many effective solutions. .
The impact of the Covid-19 epidemic reduced the number of orders, so MTO had to arrange for most of its employees to work from home, but still had to ensure the work schedule. In order to actively respond to situations, the company has applied Zalo utility to promptly issue documents directing epidemic prevention and control to rooms, teams and teams.
At the same time, develop epidemic prevention and control scenarios in the direction of increasing levels with the motto “3 first, 4 on the spot”. Temperature measurement, hand washing with antibacterial solution, wearing of masks and medical declaration are mandatory for each employee.
The company also sprays disinfectant twice a week for the company’s campus area and the cargo parking lot in combination with strict control, streamlining the number of people going in and out, working and contacting.
Implementing the “dual goal”, in order to actively and proactively meet the needs of freight transport, in addition to 11 existing tractors and 4 trucks, the company cooperates with a number of other freight transport units to operating up to 50 tractors of all kinds to meet the maximum needs of customers.
Along with mobilizing vehicles, the company continues to upgrade the warehouse system, increase the number of trailers, invest in more automation equipment in 2 warehouses with a total area of ​​nearly 2,000 m2.
In addition, the company has implemented governance restructuring, thoroughly reducing costs; increase the application of information technology; actively research to understand customer needs to associate with traditional customers, expand operations to new exploitation markets; develop a plan to arrange and arrange reasonable labor in the context of the epidemic.
With continuous efforts to “surmount the storm” of the epidemic, in the first quarter of 2021, MTO’s revenue reached more than 12 billion dong, equivalent to 30% of the company’s total revenue in 2020. According to the plan, from now until the end of 2021, in the context of complicated epidemic developments, the company sets a growth target of 5% compared to 2020.
